Social media

The profile pictures of ministries, administrations and services, as well as those of the diplomatic missions of the Luxembourg State, are provided on request by the Information and Press Service (SIP).

Profile picture

Ministries, administrations and services

On social media, ministries, administrations and State services use a profile picture incorporating the lion from the Government logotype.

The introduction of a standardised avatar ensures consistent visual identity across all official government accounts.

This avatar is unique and may not be modified.

The profile picture may appear in a circular or square format, depending on the platform’s layout.
All ministries, administrations and services under the Luxembourg Government that communicate using the Government logotype must use this official avatar for their social media presence.

The name of the institution should appear in the account’s profile name.

Embassies use a variation of the official profile picture.

Cover image

The cover image can, in principle, be chosen freely (e.g. campaign visuals, relevant themes).

However, it is preferable to use photographs that reflect the identity of the ministry or administration, such as images of its building or sector of activity.
Photomontages should be avoided.

Photos

The copyright of all photos must always be indicated.

This can be done either via a watermark placed in the bottom right corner of the image, or by a clear mention in the accompanying text.

The Government logotype must be inserted in the top left-hand corner of the photo.

It should be used in white monochrome and placed consistently in the same position.

Although adding the logotype may not always be feasible for urgent publications, its use is strongly recommended for campaign visuals or scheduled posts.

On request, templates for various formats are available from the Information and Press Service (SIP).

Campaigns, infographics, quotes and other visuals

The typeface used must be "The Sans", or alternatively "Calibri", as defined in the Government's graphic charter.

Quotes should preferably be written in white. The use of italics is discouraged for accessibility reasons.

Particular attention should be paid to ensuring sufficient contrast between the background colour and the text, to guarantee comfortable readability.

If a colour other than white is used for text, it is important to use the same colour consistently across all posts, helping followers to recognise and associate it with the institution’s visual identity.

For infographics and campaign visuals, a white strip must be placed along the bottom of the image, clearly displaying the logo of the relevant ministry or administration.

In such cases, the Government logotype must be placed on the right. Any additional logo must be positioned to the left of the Government logotype.

State co-branding is not permitted.

The white strip should occupy at least 10% of the illustration and no more than 15%.
The basic rules on the use of the logotype (see p. 9 "Construction") must be respected.

The Information and Press Service (SIP) provides ready-to-use templates to facilitate correct application of the charter. These can be requested on demand.
